Overview:

Microsoft Word is a popular word-processing program used primarily for creating documents such as letters, brochures, learning activities, tests, quizzes and students' homework assignments.  There are many simple but useful features available in Microsoft Word to make it easier for study and work.  Unlike a plain text editor, Microsoft Word has features including spell check, grammar check, text and font formatting, HTML support, image support, advanced page layout, and more.  The learning sessions will help you make the most of Microsoft’s Word Processing application.  They will also help you navigate Windows 10 to enable you to become familiar with what you are seeing on your screen.

 

You will need:

Basic keyboard and mouse skills. 
You can bring your own device or use our SeniorNet laptop.
   

Learning Objectives:

The learning sessions will cover:
   •  Becoming familiar with the keyboard keys.
   •  Becoming familiar with the Ribbon and what it can help you do.
   •  Triplet buttons.
   •  Quick Access Bar.
   •  Creating a new document.
   •  Formatting text - Moving, Copying and Pasting text.
   •  Checking spelling and grammar. 
   •  Saving a file.
   •  Making a folder.   
   •  Line and paragraph spacing.
