Introduction to Excel

Typically 2 x 2 hour sessions

 

Overview:

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program.  Spreadsheets use a collection of cells arranged into rows and columns (tables) to organise and manipulate data.  They can also display data as charts, histograms and line graphs.   Excel has a range of uses such as:
   •  Recording expenditure and income to plan budgets, manage daily expenses, and track spending habits. 
   •  Creating tables of information which can be sorted and filtered such as timetables, or tables of people and their tasks.
   •  Creating charts and graphs of data from spreadsheets.


You will need:

 A basic working knowledge of your computer, iPad or tablet as well as basic keyboard and mouse skills, and
 a basic understanding of arithmetic functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

 

Learning Objectives:

The learning session will cover how to:
   •  Prepare a spreadsheet, edit and format it.
   •  Apply basic formulas and functions to a spreadsheet.
   •  Use the standard and drawing toolbars.
   •  Save an Excel file. 
   •  Print and copy spreadsheet or database information.
